The People
The founders, the team, the ceramist. The human infrastructure behind every result OSD has ever produced.
The founders built this brand — but they are expressions of the belief, not the belief itself. The philosophy, the culture, the approach, the standard — this is what patients experience. It transcends any individual.
People who believe the same thing
There was no single moment where Orchard Scotts Dental stopped being "Jerry and Ronnie's practice" and became something larger. It happened gradually, as a belief was embedded into every role and process. The ceramist doesn't produce what the dentist instructs — he co-develops. The treatment coordinators don't close — they guide and step back. The dentists don't wait for the practice to fund their education — they invest in themselves. These aren't policies. They are the operating principle expressed through each person who works here.
Understanding the team is not merely useful context for vendors and agencies. It is structural. The brand's proof of philosophy lives in specific people who have been practising it for specific periods of time. When OSD says "19 years of the standard," that's not a practice-wide abstraction — it's Dr Jerry Lim and Dr Ronnie Yap, personally. When OSD says "in-house ceramist," that's Alvin Chai, specifically. The people are the evidence. They cannot be separated from the brand.
The foundersJerry & Ronnie — going to the source
Dr Jerry Lim and Dr Ronnie Yap opened Orchard Scotts Dental in 2007 with a conviction that aesthetic dentistry in Singapore could be practised differently — not faster, not cheaper, not louder, but better. The prevailing model treated cosmetic dentistry as primarily a cosmetic procedure. Aesthetics took precedence. Biology and functional durability were secondary concerns, addressed if time permitted, deferred if they didn't.
Jerry and Ronnie believed otherwise. They had been trained to hold biology, function, and aesthetics as an indivisible standard — to refuse the trade-offs the prevailing model treated as normal. That belief was not a marketing philosophy in 2007. It was simply what they thought a better standard of care looked like. Everything else followed from it: the longer consultations, the in-house ceramist, the SmileUp Preview system, the treatment coordinators trained to guide rather than close.
What distinguishes the founders in the OSD story is not merely what they built. It is what they gave away. Over 19 years, Jerry and Ronnie trained more than 100 dentists across Singapore and Southeast Asia — many of whom opened their own practices, some of whom became direct competitors. The approach to smile design they developed is now practised across the country, often by the very people they taught. This was not a business strategy. It was the natural extension of believing the standard of care should be higher. If you hold that belief, you don't keep it to yourself.
When you're treated here, you're going to the source. Not because the source is the only option — but because mastery and origin represent a different depth.
Dr Jerry Lim holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) — one of dentistry's highest postgraduate credentials in this region — and trained at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) in neuromuscular dentistry. His particular expertise is in understanding how the jaw, bite, and facial musculature interact with aesthetic outcomes: how a result that looks right in the chair might create neuromuscular stress over years. This is the long-term biology pillar made personal. He brings 30-plus years of clinical experience to every diagnosis.
Dr Ronnie Yap is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and holds the GDPRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He served as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore's dental faculty from 2007 to 2020 — teaching the next generation of dentists at the same institution while building OSD. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), connecting OSD's practice to the highest international standard for cosmetic dental work.
Together, the founders represent the rare combination of clinical rigour and teaching legacy that makes the phrase "going to the source" something more than a positioning line. It is a verifiable claim about origin and depth.
Director of clinical affairsDr Kenneth Goh — the KOL
Dr Kenneth Goh holds a unique position in the OSD story: he is the practice's most prominent public-facing clinical voice, while simultaneously being the least visible online. That asymmetry is being addressed as part of OSD's current content workstream — and it matters, because the story he carries is significant.
Dr Goh is a triple Key Opinion Leader: recognised by Invisalign, by Shofu (an advanced ceramic and restorative materials company), and by Morita (a precision dental technology manufacturer). KOL designation means other dental professionals seek his guidance, attend his presentations, and refer complex cases to him. He is pursuing a Masters degree in Laser Dentistry — investing personally in a specialty that will expand OSD's capability in soft tissue management and minimally invasive procedures. He also holds a Digital Smile Design Residency certification, giving him a formal foundation in the most advanced framework for digital treatment planning currently available.
For content purposes: Dr Kenneth Goh is the clearest bridge between OSD's clinical depth and its public credibility. Invisalign's Black Diamond status at practice level was earned through cases he and the team managed. The KOL relationships open OSD to professional networks and international exposure that a purely patient-facing practice would not access. His authority is real and documented — but entirely invisible online at present. Correcting that is a current priority.
The associate dentistsThe broader clinical team
OSD's associate dentists are not generalists filling chairs. Each brings a specific area of depth that extends the practice's clinical range whilst operating within the same Three-Pillar framework. The practice does not franchise, does not run multiple locations, and does not dilute quality through scale — so when a specialist joins the team, it is because the standard can be maintained.
Dr Noah Teo — Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr Noah Teo is OSD's specialist oral and maxillofacial surgeon — an important distinction in a regulatory environment where specialist status requires specific postgraduate qualifications and registration with the Ministry of Health as a recognised specialty.
Dr Teo holds a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) from the National University of Singapore and a UK fellowship in oral and maxillofacial surgery — one of the most technically demanding surgical fellowships available in this discipline. He has 20-plus years of experience, has produced four peer-reviewed publications (evidence of research contribution beyond clinical practice), and was the recipient of a MOH award recognising excellence in patient care.
For OSD's positioning, Dr Teo's presence matters in a specific way. Implant surgery, bone grafting, complex extractions, and oral surgical procedures that fall outside the scope of general practice are handled in-house at OSD rather than referred out. This is part of the "whatever it takes" commitment and the compound moat: the patient's experience remains consistent, the clinical team maintains continuity, and the quality standard is applied across the entire treatment journey rather than handed off at its most complex point.
The ceramistAlvin Chai — craft made tangible
No single person at OSD better illustrates the gap between what the practice claims and what most practices actually deliver than Alvin Chai.
Alvin is OSD's Ceramist Director, leading the in-house Digital Dental Aesthetics laboratory. His role is not to receive instructions from a dentist and fabricate accordingly. It is to co-develop — to sit with the patient, understand their vision, refine the design collaboratively, and produce work that the patient has genuinely participated in creating. This is not a standard ceramist arrangement. Most dental practices outsource to external labs. Some practices use premium external labs. Very few have a ceramist on-site. Fewer still integrate the ceramist directly into the patient relationship.
The in-house arrangement closes a gap that matters enormously for aesthetic outcomes. When a ceramist works at a distance from the clinical team, information is lost — the tone of a patient's natural teeth in specific lighting conditions, the subtlety of how a shade photographs versus how it reads in person, the micro-adjustments that require real-time collaboration rather than revised spec sheets. Bringing the ceramist inside the practice is not a luxury feature. It is a clinical decision in service of the Three-Pillar standard.
For content purposes: Alvin Chai is one of OSD's most important brand assets, and one of the most under-communicated. His presence is proof of the "craft over convenience" value in its most literal form. Every vendor or agency working on OSD should understand that the ceramist is not a supporting detail — he is a central character in the brand's story.
Treatment coordinatorsGuide. Inform. Step back.
OSD's Treatment Coordinators (TCs) operate under a philosophy that differs from the industry norm in a way that is easy to describe but surprisingly hard to maintain: they guide and inform, then they step back. They do not close. They do not apply pressure. They do not create urgency. They do not follow up with tactics designed to overcome hesitation. When a patient leaves without committing, that is not a failure — it is the system working as intended.
This is not a sales methodology OSD has chosen for strategic reasons. It is the "respect for the patient's intelligence" value expressed operationally. Patients who are treated as intelligent adults making considered decisions tend to return that trust with loyalty and referrals. Patients who feel pressured tend to become cautious advocates at best. The TC philosophy is one of the least visible things OSD does well — and one of the things that most directly shapes what patients say about the practice to people they know.
The TC team includes Eumi Andrade (Assistant Manager and TC Lead), Lina Seaw (Invisalign Coordinator), Alek, and Ray. Each TC carries a specific patient relationship from consultation through to treatment completion and beyond — providing the continuity that makes the "personal treatment consultant" differentiator real rather than nominal.
